Reporting Line: The Chief Engineer reports directly to the General Manager.
Job Summary: The Chief Engineer will oversee the maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of hotel facilities, ensuring all activities align with Hilton’s standards and operational policies. This position demands a proactive approach to maintaining building integrity, operational safety, and equipment functionality in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Develop and implement engineering, maintenance, and management strategies.
Organize and manage duty rosters, ensuring seamless shift transitions and after-hours emergency response readiness.
Oversee the engineering store and lead the energy conservation team.
Manage and supervise maintenance and repairs of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment.
Conduct regular staff training sessions, assess performance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Work with the management company and the General Manager to execute all matters related to Property Improvement Plan, Capital Projects, and Renovations.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain the property to Hilton’s quality standards.
Perform comprehensive building inspections and manage maintenance schedules to uphold service excellence.
Supervise the maintenance of various systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, ensuring optimal operation and compliance with technical specifications.
Coordinate effectively across departments to support hotel operations and event preparations.
Manage engineering inventory control, reducing waste and enhancing cost efficiency.
Maintain regular communication with local authorities and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Advocate for and implement sustainable practices and effective resource management within the hotel.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in English to meet business communications needs.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in engineering within hotels or related facilities, with at least 3 years at a Chief Engineer level or 5 years as an Assistant Chief Engineer in a luxury hotel environment.
Expertise in systems such as water treatment, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical maintenance.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and technical standards relevant to hotel operations.
Demonstrated ability to train and lead an engineering team.
Proficiency with modern technology tools including smartphones and Microsoft Office.
Availability to manage emergency situations 24/7.
This role is essential to maintaining the operational integrity and safety of the Hilton Vancouver Downtown Hotel, ensuring all facilities meet Hilton’s renowned standards of excellence.

Salary/Wage

80 -85,000
