Job Description

Reporting to Manager of Community & Visitor Engagement, the Community Specialist – Lake Country is a key member of Tourism Kelowna’s team, providing welcoming and authentic service to visitors and locals, while at the same time promoting area businesses, activities, and attractions to encourage longer
stays, increased spending, and return visits, which positively impacts the Central Okanagan’s vital tourism economy.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Welcome all visitors and residents to the Lake Country Mobile Visitor Centre; determine needs
and provide complete and accurate service.
• Establish daily equipment and locations of setup for mobile visitor services.
• Operate, set-up, maintain, and take down mobile visitor servicing equipment daily.
• Maintain superior level of customer service and high level of community knowledge on products,
services, and events.
• Answer inquiries via phone, email, Simpleview CRM, LiveChat, and other platforms.
• Complete all daily and weekly tasks as outlined in the Operations Binder.
• Perform sales, restocking, and monthly inventory count of any retail, consignment, and ticket
options.
• Update the online events calendar with Lake Country specific events, when possible.
• Keep equipment, setup location, and storage area tidy, clean, and organized.
• Keep brochures well stocked and organized (will involve carrying boxes).
• Collect, compile, and accurately report statistical information from the Lake Country Mobile
Visitor Centre in accordance with Destination BC and Tourism Kelowna guidelines.
• Attend monthly meetings (in-service training, product knowledge, familiarization tours, site
visits).
• Develop and maintain excellent member relations while performing visits, callouts, audits, and
brochure orders.
• Meet minimum Visitor Centre Network standards as determined by Destination British
Columbia.
• Follow direction given by Lake Country Supervisor.
• Handle other duties as assigned by Manager of Community & Visitor Engagement, Retail
Coordinator, or Director of Destination Development.
• Maintain professionalism and adhere to Tourism Kelowna’s uniform policies while on shift.
