The Role:

The Guest Services Associate is a key point of contact for visitors to the Britannia Mine Museum, setting the tone for the full visitor experience. This Guest Service position assists guests in the cafe (in a barista role) and in the gift store (retail sales) operations of the museum.

You are a customer service superstar; friendly, welcoming, and able to both learn and use our systems and software.

Important Information:

Starting wage $18.00 (based on experience)

Applicants must have reliable transportation (car or carpool) to the Museum for all shifts (there is NO public transportation)

Competitive benefits plan after 3 months of employment for this position

This schedule for this role is a Regular, Part – Time role scheduled for: Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and stat holidays (our busiest times)

All employees must complete a Criminal Record Check (covered by the Museum)

Key Responsibilities:

Telling the story of the Museum and the history of mining in BC

Responding to visitor inquiries to the Museum’s customer service standard

Assisting customers with purchases in the Company Store (retail)

Serving customers in the Café

Making food & beverages

Processing payments

Safe food handling procedures

Opening and/or closing duties, cleaning & bussing

Accurate and timely stock counts and daily re-stocking

You Are:

Approachable, friendly and respectful

Able to do basic math and have some computer skills

Sales-oriented; providing a value-added experience to guests

Able to effectively respond to customer challenges

Pro-active and can show initiative

Organized, with an eye for detail

Able to work in a fast-paced and open (at times, loud) environment.

A team player who likes working with others

We would be really impressed if:

! You had some experience with POS and Debit/Credit systems

! You were able to learn and use databases and software related to delivery of guest services and processing of reservations and purchases including handling cash and reconciliations

Qualifications:

·     Willing to complete a Criminal Record Check, as per the Museum’s policies.

·     Willing to take FoodSafe Level 1

·    Bondable
