OVERVIEW

A structured Security Officer role is critical to the success of Parq Vancouver. The Security Officer’s primary role is to provide a safe environment for guests and associates in and around the Casino and Resort by maintaining a visible presence and superior customer service.

*Note that Parq Vancouver is a 24/7 operation. A successful candidate must be available to work a variety of shifts.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A Security Officer is responsible for the security of all assets and secure gaming supplies on the Casino and Resort property. Security Officers will be deployed at a variety of positions with designated responsibilities associated with each. Security is responsible for ensuring the casino remains free from minors, undesirable subjects and complies with all regulatory requirements.

Provide proactive superior customer service and maintain a friendly and professional demeanor on the floor at all times
Secure entrances including doors, windows, and gates
Patrol and provide visible security presence throughout the Casino and Resort
Monitor movement and security of cash and convertible cash assets
Provide physical security and crowd control in and around the Casino and Resort
Provide escorts for chip fills, table credits, box pulls, slot drops and large jackpots
Provide safety escorts for patrons and Associates as requested
Execute and assist with Emergency Procedures including fire evacuation and serious incidents
Monitor employee activity to ensure conduct of all gaming operations is in compliance with Parq Vancouver Policies and Procedures as well as British Columbia Lottery Corporation Standards, Policies and Procedures
Enforce restricted access to non-public and secure areas
Monitor patrons and Associates in the casino to identify underage, intoxicated or suspicious persons and/or activity
Report and provide Incident Reports for any suspicious or criminal activity, suspicious persons, exclusions or unattended children
Assist with medical emergencies
Write incident reports as required by policy
Maintain the highest level of discretion and confidentiality
Maintain working knowledge of company policies and procedures
Attend on-going job training as directed by management
Responsible for providing professional and superior customer service in accordance with established company standards
Additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

1-2 years demonstrated security experience is preferred, but not required. (Preference will be given to experience in a hotel/resort or casino environment)
Education in related field of study including law enforcement would be a definite asset
Training in use of force and tactical communication
Demonstrated experience intervening and deescalating conflict situations with non-violent tactics
Ability to remain professional and perform duties under stressful conditions
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience in report writing and incident investigation skills
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS

Ability to obtain valid Gambling Worker registration and License
Ability to complete all required BCLC trainings and Certifications
Valid BST (Basic Security Training) Certificate required
Must obtain Gaming Security Officer Training Certificate during probationary period (90 days)
Serving it Right Certification
Current certification in first aid Level 1 or 2 an asset
Current certification in Advanced Security Training an asset
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Security Officers work in an environment with a diverse clientele, should the need arise all Security Officers are required to be physically able to restrain and control a subject during a physical removal
Able to lift, handle, and transport materials that are over 25lbs
Able to see entire field of vision, including having depth perception and full peripheral vision in order to ensure the safety of themselves and others
Will be required to stand and walk for extended periods of time while on shift (ability to run as required during an emergency or security situation)
May be required to work outdoors during all hours and in all weather
