Job Description

SKY Hangar is a fully operational helicopter hangar located in the Pitt Meadows Airport (YPK). Our hangar is unique in that we are also a fully equipped events space, with a stage, in-house sound system, RGB lighting, projectors and more!

With thrilling helicopter tourism by day and all categories of events by day/night, our work environment is never dull.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

SKY Hangar is seeking professional and reliable individuals to join our growing team of Venue/Events Staff. Venue/Events Staff are key holders who represent SKY Helicopters Hangar as a whole and are responsible for opening and closing the venue before/after events, supervising events, assisting with general venue/event maintenance before, during and after events, working with security detail and client hired vendors for the event, assisting with event troubleshooting to do with the venue, and so on.

We typically have 3 shifts to cover on event days:
– ~7:00 AM-3:00 PM (8hrs at $20/hr)
– ~1:00 PM-9:00 PM (8hrs at $20/hr)
– ~7:30 PM-3:30 AM (8hrs at $25/hr)

This is a GIG POSITION and based solely on event bookings
*Please note, we require a minimum of 1 shift per month to maintain general knowledge

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Open/close SKY Hangar before/after scheduled events.

-Keep the hangar and events areas clean*, orderly and stocked.
*We have a cleaning team that comes in before and after each event however, our staff are responsible for keeping the space presentable during the event. Washrooms are to be marked out of order if excessively soiled, we DO NOT expect staff to clean bathrooms/bodily fluids during events.

-Greet and direct vendors for load-in/load-out. This may include working with SKY Helicopters to grant restricted airside access to select persons.

-Supervise vendor set-up and takedown, including checking areas are clear and clean upon vendor arrival AND departure.

-Assist with neatly loading and unloading SKY Hangar tables and chairs onto trolleys, as necessary*.
*Not all events utilize our tables/chairs; SKY staff do not assist with non-sky event items.

-Patrol the event while active to ensure integrity of hangar and monitoring of restricted areas alongside security detail, as needed*.
*SKY staff are in no way expected to act as or on behalf of security detail, nor put themselves in harm’s way.

-Assist with event/venue troubleshooting*, if required.
*SKY staff are NOT responsible for coordinating the event, non-sky set up or tear down, AV production or any other items not outlined within each “event day checklist” provided.

-Walkthroughs with vendors to ensure housekeeping/venue rules are understood PRIOR to vendor services/load-in commencing. Walkouts with vendors/clients to ensure the hangar is left in good condition and/or any damage is well documented.

-Other tasks assigned by the Venue Manager such as: putting up/taking down drapes, pulling out table linens, setting up water hose for catering, hosing off/sweeping front steps, salting steps (winter), ensuring parking lot is clean/clear before guests arrive, pulling dollies out of storage for load in/load out, setting up Christmas decor etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-One-year previous customer service experience is preferred, with the ability to provide friendly, confident and efficient service.

-Must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to express oneself in a professional, clear and concise fashion.

-Self-Starter mentality is a must; taking action as needed and anticipating items prior to being needed/requested.

-Ability to confidently present oneself and be assertive in a professional manner where necessary.

-Tech savvy: Ability to use basic features in client management system online, use mobile scheduling app, communicate through scheduling app for event overview reports etc.

-Must successfully pass a criminal background check.

-Must have the ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time.

-Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs safely on your own.

-Must have access to reliable transportation

-Must present a professional and well-groomed appearance at all times.

-Previous experiences within event and/or management roles is an asset, but not required.

-A high school diploma, GED or equivalent is preferred

-Every event is different, we encourage you to ask questions! We will always support our staff with questions and concerns, please do not ever hesitate to ask if you do not know; this is preferable to assumptions if you are even the slightest bit unsure
