Orca Spirit Adventures, one of Victoria’s largest marine eco-tourism company, is recruiting a Zodiac Skipper, who can captain our Whale Watching Zodiac Tours. We are proud to offer year-round tours that ensure passenger safety and fun! We are looking for someone who can deliver the ultimate rugged West Coast marine experience for our guests, while maintaining professionalism and always putting safety first.

Responsibilities:

• Passenger orientation (suiting up, safety procedures, tour itinerary)
• Providing information regarding wildlife, environment and geography throughout tour
• Responsible for keeping the boat clean, including pontoons and bathroom facilities
• General maintenance of engines and electronics
• Responsible for communication and navigation equipment and maintenance of emergency procedures and operation of all safety equipment on board
• Obeying all Maritime regulations and all rules regarding The PWWA Guidelines and safe operation of vessels around marine wildlife and in marine sanctuaries
• Responsible for preparing and checking vessel pre and post tour

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Local marine knowledge of the area of operation
• Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
• Marine Emergency Duties A-3 (MED A-3)
• Radio Operators Certificate Marine (ROC-M)
• Basic Marine First Aid

Experience operating zodiacs and wildlife guiding is strongly desirable.
