Job Description

The Williams Lake & District Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Information Centre are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Summer Students to join our team for the 2025 summer season!
This dynamic role offers a unique blend or the flexibility to focus individually on marketing, visitor services, and event coordination, all aimed at boosting tourism, promoting local businesses, and enhancing community engagement during the vibrant summer season!
Marketing & Communications:
• Develop and execute innovative campaigns to promote local businesses, attractions, and events.
• Create content for social media, blog posts, newsletters, and promotional materials.
• Manage and grow social media presence, including content creation, scheduling, and community engagement.
• Monitor and report on marketing analytics to guide future campaigns.
• Support cross-promotional initiatives with local businesses and event organizers.
Visitor Centre Support:
• Greet and assist visitors with enthusiasm and professionalism.
• Provide accurate information about local attractions, accommodations, dining, and events.
• Distribute brochures, maps, and promotional materials.
• Maintain the Visitor Centre’s appearance and update displays, inventory, and promotional items.
• Operate point-of-sale systems in the gift shop and serve coffee, ice cream, and other treats during summer months.
Event Planning & Coordination:
• Assist in planning and executing community events that showcase regional tourism and culture.
• Liaise with vendors, sponsors, and community partners.
• Provide on-site event support to ensure smooth operations.
• Promote events through marketing efforts and social media campaigns.
• Support event-related administrative duties such as data entry, scheduling, and correspondence.
Data Collection & Community Outreach:
• Record visitor inquiries, feedback, and tourism statistics.
• Track visitor trends and contribute to service improvements.
• Represent the Chamber at local meetings, tourism events, and workshops.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in marketing, communications, tourism, or event management is an asset).
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Experience with social media, content creation, and basic graphic design tools (Canva, Mailchimp, etc.).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or digital tools for marketing and event planning.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Knowledge of Williams Lake and the surrounding area is a strong asset.
• Positive attitude, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.
Salary/Wage
20/hr
