Established for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, the Park’s incredible facilities are now enjoyed by both high-performance athletes and recreational guests alike.

Nordic Retail Advisor delivers exceptional customer service at Whistler Olympic Park by enhancing the guest experience and supporting sales goals—from the initial greeting to personalized product recommendations based on individual needs.

Role offers autonomy to go beyond traditional retail duties by providing an opportunity to enthusiastically share a passion for outdoor adventure, build meaningful guest relations while contributing to the development of a world-class Nordic destination in the Callaghan Valley.

Casual, Temporary Part Time or Temporary Full Time role requires the ability to work weekends, evenings and during peak winter season hours and holidays

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities
Guest Experience
• Deliver high-quality, enthusiastic customer service that creates a welcoming, memorable shopping experience in an engaging retail environment
• Share enthusiasm for Nordic sports and outdoor recreation
• Communicate product features, sizing details, and recommendations confidently and professionally while fostering a memorable guest connection
• Support guests in gearing up for unforgettable adventures in the Callaghan Valley by offering expert guidance on Nordic equipment, apparel, and accessories including:
o greet guests and provide personal assistance by assessing their needs
o offer informed product recommendations based on activity needs and experience level
o appropriately assist gear selection to enhance adventure
o demonstrate Nordic product knowledge including skis, boots, and poles
o educate guests on Nordic gear use and assist with fitting boots or sizing poles as needed

Business and Operational Deliverables
• Report to the Manager, Guest Services
• Contribute to achieving sales targets and overall retail performance
• Accurately operate point-of-sale system efficiently, handling transactions, returns, and exchanges
• Restock inventory, ensure visually appealing displays, maintain a clean and organized retail space
• Contribute to merchandising, promotions, and inventory including receiving, labeling and storage
• Track inventory levels and advise manager for product restocking
• Provide feedback on customer preferences and product performance to improve offerings
• Positive representative of Whistler Sport Legacies both internally and externally; ensure effective communication with guests including the ability to deal with difficult situations and complaints
• Liaise and cross-share information with WOP teams
• Assist Guest Service Department and events as required
• Act as a brand ambassador for Whistler Olympic Park
• Champion and adhere to all WSL corporate policies and procedures
• Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ customer service philosophy AIM: All Interactions Matter
• Adhere to WorkSafeBC, Technical Safety BC, WSL and any other applicable governing agency safety regulations including equipment safe procedures and protocols
• Assist team with other duties as assigned or required

Position Requirements
Education/Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Retail, merchandising, customer service experience, ideally in a sporting goods or outdoor environment required
• Knowledge and appreciation of Nordic skiing (classic and skate), snowshoeing, biathlon, ski jumping, or sport and recreation facility operations preferred
• POS System experience an asset
• Time management skills necessary
• Accurate cash handling and reconciliation experience with a keen eye to detail
• Satisfactory criminal record check is mandatory prior to commencement of employment
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License required

• Passion for sport and exceptional customer service is essential

Languages
• Fluency in English required
• Fluency in French an asset

Physical Requirements
• Reliable winter transportation (WOP is not serviced by public transit)
• Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to regularly lift 50lbs

Salary/Wage

$22.50 per hour + Commission (calculated on set parameters)
