Terms of Employment: Permanent, full-time, 30-40 hours per week.

Wage: $28.50 per hour

Job Description and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and arrange food according to standards set by Executive Chef.
• Participate in menu planning and ensure food meets quality standards.
• Maintain effective communication within the kitchen with the Executive Chef, Executive Sous-chef and other chef de partie.
• Keep aware of daily functions in restaurant and catering.
• Show creative input and interest in the job.
• Supervise, train, assist and guideline cooks and junior kitchen staff as required.
• Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff.
• Estimate food requirements and food costs.
• Rotating stock report to Executive Chef and Pastry Chef
• Control food cost by minimizing spoilage, waste and exercising portion control.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper food safe procedures are followed by all staff.
• Ensure fridges, freezers and work area are left in a tidy and organized manner.
• Monitor food holding, fridge and freezer temperatures.
• Ensure food is properly stored and wrapped.
• Communicate with managers about challenges that you experience and partner with them in creating solutions
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of cooking experience in a professional kitchen.
• Completion of apprenticeship program, trade certificate or equivalent credentials in hospitality, culinary or restaurant management.
• Ability to lift 50 Lbs.
• Ability to work standing for 8-hour shifts
• Willing to work overtime as required.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada

Education Requirements:

• Food Safe Level 1 certification
