Job Description

With a busy tourism season right around the corner, Visit Cranbrook is looking for outgoing and fun individuals to join our team as a Visitor Experience Ambassador on a four-month term.

Your main role is simple: engage with visitors and connect with them in a variety of settings to enhance the visitor experience in the community. You will be working out of both our Downtown Cranbrook and Elizabeth Lake Visitor Centres, as well as going around town with our mobile visitor centre e-bike and setting up at events around the region like the Cranbrook Farmer’s Market, Spirit of the Rockies and Wasa Lake Triathlon, or even getting out and connecting with folks directly in the community to promote the many benefi ts of working, staying, and playing in the sunniest city in B.C.!

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Providing detailed information to visitors and locals regarding attractions, recreation, accommodations, as well as many other products, services, and activities in Cranbrook, the East Kootenays, B.C. and beyond.

Possess a willingness to engage with people in high traffic areas i.e., the Farmer’s Market, Fort Steele Heritage Town and others.

Staying up to date on relevant information about weather events, traffic incidents on local highways, fire bans/wildfire information and other needed information. This would be both in person and via social media and our website.

Promote and sell our CBK line of merchandise.

Handle merchandise sales through point-of-sales system (Square).

Updating the events calendar on our website, cranbrookbc.com

Distribute Cranbrook Experience Guides and Trail Maps to hotels and businesses in the region.

Encourage new and return visits.

Perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications :

Applicants must have a reliable vehicle or dependable travel plan, as this role sometimes requires travel between our two Visitor Centres.

Excellent communication skills. This job is all about engaging with people, whether in person, over the phone or online. Strong relational intelligence is required.

Excellent customer service skills. You need to have the ability to listen, respond and anticipate visitor’s needs to provide them with the most detailed, relevant and accurate information possible.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take initiative in fast-changing situations.

Ability to work within a team setting but can also work independently.

Knowledge of attractions, events, hotels, restaurants/bars and other products and services in Cranbrook and area.

Ability to work with computers. A knowledge of the Google & Microsoft Office suite and navigating the web is needed.

Knowledge of social media & content creation would be an asset.

Salary/Wage

$18 - 20
