Job Title: Experience Cook
Job Type: Full-time | Part Time
Location: Vancouver, BC
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our team at a reputable restaurant/hotel in Vancouver. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in high-end restaurants or hotels and be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring that they are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation. They must be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and have excellent culinary skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes as assigned by the head chef or sous chef, ensuring that they are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
• Ensure that all food items are prepared and served according to food safety and sanitation guidelines and that the kitchen is clean, organized, and well-stocked at all times.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure a seamless and efficient flow of food from the kitchen to the dining room, and to address any customer concerns or feedback.
• Assist in inventory management, including ordering supplies as needed and minimizing waste.
• Assist with administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling and record-keeping.
• Work collaboratively with other members of the kitchen staff, including the Senior Cook, to ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation and ensure that all equipment and utensils are in good working order.
• Assist with the preparation of mise en place, including cutting, chopping, and measuring ingredients.
• Assist with the plating of dishes, ensuring that they are presented according to established standards and procedures.
• Conduct regular kitchen inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety and sanitation standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
• 5+ years of experience as a Cook in a high-end restaurant or hotel.
• Diploma or degree in culinary arts or a related field is preferred.
• Food Safe Level-1 is a must
• Strong knowledge of classical cooking techniques, ingredients, and presentation.
• Excellent culinary skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other staff members and departments.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Familiarity with Vancouver’s food scene and trends is an asset.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
