There are certain small gestures that have an impact far greater than we expect. Case in point, a brief email our health and safety team recently received from one of the participants in our COVID-19 safety plan review service. It’s a key service that we’ve been providing to the industry since early on in the pandemic, that can help create or review your COVID-19 safety plan with our health and safety team. A COVID-19 safety plan is a critical component to maintain safety for all as we operate during this pandemic. We’re extremely proud of the results thus far- we’ve helped nearly 150 tourism and hospitality businesses from all corners of the province to support safe COVID-19 compliant workplaces.

And, when your inbox yields positive praise like the one we recently received from Simon Vine, Executive Chef for the Black Sheep Group four restaurants in Kelowna and Nelson, you cannot help but to feel validated for the hard work and extra effort that the team has gone through to make this happen.  Here’s what he wrote:

Thank you for this review of our COVID-19 safety plans. I’ve found this review to be very helpful in identifying missing or deficient aspects of our plans. I have updated our policies to reflect all of the suggestions made in your findings, and we will endeavor to continue to monitor and adapt our policies to ensure we are maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.

Kind regards,

Simon Vine

We continue to encourage you to reach out to our team to take advantage of this free service, particularly as we hopefully ease into a period of loosening restrictions. go2HR exists to drive strong workforces and safe workplaces that deliver world class tourism and hospitality experiences in BC.

Another project that has the same potential to deliver real assistance to business who are challenged by the constantly evolving business climate is our new BSAFE™ training program. BSAFE stands for BC Safety Assured for Everyone and is a new online training course designed for both front line staff and manager/supervisors to provide foundational knowledge in COVID-19 health and safety protocols to keep everyone safe – workers, guest, and communities. The course will identify employer and employee responsibilities for ensuring a safe work environment. Participants will learn how to access relevant health information and best practices to carry forward in a post pandemic environment. The course will also offer ways to resolve conflict situations arising from non-compliance of safety protocols by guests, coworkers, and employers. The curriculum is delivered online, in 90 minutes, and upon successful completion of an exam, a certificate will be awarded to the participant.

We had great support from industry and government to create this new training tool. Pre-registration is open now and I would encourage all to sign up for immediate access when available later in May. There’s lots we can continue to do to #SaveOurSummer.

Stay Well
