This role manages the social media marketing and online content for the business as it relates to the execution of the Marketing and/or Communications Plan.  Typically reporting to a senior marketing or communications person, this role generates creative content while connecting with external customers to build and maintain relationships and brand awareness and reputation of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Building and executing a social media strategy as part of a broader marketing and communication strategy for the business
  • Identifying the most appropriate social media channels to achieve the company’s communication goals and defining the audience each channel is targeting
  • Generating, editing, publishing and sharing daily social media content including writing posts to publicize events, marketing campaigns and potentially product launches
  • Optimizing company webpages to increase visibility in searches
  • Moderating all user-generated content as per the moderation policy for each community forum
  • Analyzing and reporting on social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then acting on the information
  • Monitoring trending conversations, audience insights and overall performance of the business within social media channels
  • Seeking opportunities to improve and strengthen the brand through digital storytelling
  • Collaborating with other departments to manage the brand reputation and recognition of the business

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of 2-3 years work experience in social media or related field the ability to craft a social media strategy
  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media or Public Relations
  • Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation and communication skills
  • Social networking experience and knowledge of social analytics tools
  • Some knowledge of web design, web development, SEO practices
  • Knowledge of online marketing and good understanding of major marketing channels
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented with good multitasking and organisational ability
