Overview

When someone on your team doesn’t seem like themselves and appears to be struggling, how confident do you feel approaching the conversation? This 90-minute virtual session focuses on the leadership behaviours and communication approaches that strengthen trust, openness, and psychological safety in the workplace.

Participants will explore how to recognize early behavioural, emotional, and performance changes, approach supportive conversations with confidence, and understand the role leaders play in connecting workers to appropriate supports when additional assistance is needed.

Through practical examples and applied reflection, leaders will build confidence in responding thoughtfully and consistently when concerns arise, helping foster team environments where support is visible, accessible, and normalized.

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • Recognize common behavioural, emotional, and performance signs of worker distress.
  • Use active listening to build trust and openness.
  • Support psychologically safe conversations with workers showing signs of mental health decline.
  • Become familiar with go2HR and community mental health supports available to assist workers.
