Sage Hayward Vineyards and the Feral Goat Bistro are seeking an Assistant Hospitality Manager to support our Hospitality and Customer Experience Manager during the 2026 season. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone ready to step into management, strengthen their wine and operational knowledge, and grow within a destination winery environment.

The Role

The Assistant Hospitality Manager supports daily Front-of-House operations across the Tasting Room, Bistro, dock, and events. Working closely with the Hospitality Manager, you will help lead service, mentor staff, manage systems, and ensure guests consistently receive warm, knowledgeable, and memorable experiences.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications

2–4 years’ experience in a restaurant, winery, or food & beverage supervisory role
Background in winery hospitality or fine-dining service preferred
Diploma/Certificate or coursework in Hospitality, Tourism, or Business an asset
WSET Level 1 or 2 an asset (or strong interest in wine education)
Serving It Right Certification (required)
Experience with special events and/or destination hospitality an asset
Strong interpersonal skills with a guest-first mindset
Confident, supportive leader who enjoys coaching and motivating teams
Organized, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
Willingness to be hands-on and lead by example

Key Responsibilities

Support the Hospitality & Customer Experience Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences across all areas of operation
Lead FOH service during shifts and act as manager on duty when required
Uphold wine service standards and ensure staff confidently represent Sage Hayward wines
Assist with wine tours and seated tasting experiences
Support planning and execution of special events, festivals, and Winemaker’s dinners
Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising FOH staff
Help oversee Bistro and dock reservation systems to maximize bookings and service flow
Support staff training and troubleshooting on POS systems (Commerce7 / Auphan)
Assist with inventory tracking, tip distribution, and administrative reporting
Monitor service areas, garden, grounds, and dock needs and communicate issues as required
Collaborate closely with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service
Contribute to improving FOH procedures, SOPs, and service efficiency
