Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Sales team with a specific focus on generating new business for Grouse Mountain’s event and venue spaces by proactively pursuing opportunities. This includes selling corporate events, meetings and retreats by building relationships with meeting planners, DMCs, corporate clients, and local businesses. You will act as the face of the Mountain in the community and industry, representing our brand to drive revenue through venue sales.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Sales & Business Development
– Prospect, identify, and cultivate new clients through cold calls, site visits, networking, and referrals
– Target local businesses, event agencies, destination management companies (DMCs), and corporate decision-makers
– Attend off-property networking events and trade shows to generate qualified leads
– Develop customized proposals and packages that highlight the resort’s unique offerings
– Respond to incoming leads received through our website, call centre and other channels

Client Relationship Management:
– Maintain strong client relationships through regular follow-ups, meetings, and site tours
– Understand client goals and vision, and tailor offerings accordingly
– Represent the resort professionally at all times, acting as a brand ambassador

Cross-functional Collaboration:
– Partner with catering planners, food & beverage and other internal teams to ensure a seamless transition to event planning and execution
– Coordinate with marketing for promotional campaigns targeting key markets (e.g., weddings, corporate retreats)

Reporting & Strategy:
– Maintain and update CRM records
– Track sales activities, pipelines, conversion rates, and revenue performance
– Provide market insights and competitor feedback to help shape sales strategy

Responsibilities & Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
– Successful completion of post-secondary degree or diploma
– Minimum 3-5 years of experience in sales and catering event planning preferred
– Proven track record in sales and new business development
– Ability to think and act strategically; work independently and manage time efficiently
– Exceptionally strong oral communication skills; ability to develop rapport and credibility
– Effective presentation selling skills and objection handling techniques
– Ability to work in a high speed and high demand environment, managing the logistics of multiple events simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines
– Committed work ethic; positive work attitude
– Creative and motivated individual with a passion for events and guest satisfaction
– Familiarity with local market trends, corporate networks and events industry
– Exceptional customer service skills
– Knowledge of MS products from Word, Excel and Outlook.
– Experience with Tripleseat or similar is a plus
– Ability to work evening, weekends and statutory holidays, when required

Salary/Wage

70,000 - 80,000
