Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to run our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in restaurant operations and food service, with a passion for creativity in the kitchen. As a Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations including scheduling, food cost and labour; creating menus, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation. This role requires excellent team management skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Responsibilities
– Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient food preparation and service.
– Manage Labour and Food Cost according to budgets.
– Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times.
– Collaborate with restaurant management to optimize kitchen operations and enhance guest experiences.
– Train and mentor kitchen staff in cooking techniques, presentation skills, and food safety practices.
– Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and place orders as necessary to maintain stock.
– Assist in the planning of special events as required.
– Ensure that all dishes are prepared according to recipes and standards for quality.
Experience
– Proven experience as a Chef or in a similar role managing a team in the hospitality industry.
– Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
– Experience in restaurant management is necessary; understanding of how to manage food cost and labour cost is a must.
– Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
– Excellent communication skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration within the kitchen setting.
– A passion for culinary arts with an eagerness to learn new techniques and trends in food service.
