Job Description
Maintenance Engineer – 4th Class Power Engineer
As a certified 4th Class Power Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and functionality of our facilities. Your responsibilities will include installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment, while ensuring a seamless environment for both our guests and colleagues.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
What you will be doing:
• Provide professional, engaging, and friendly service at all times.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on the property’s facilities and equipment.
• Complete all Preventative Maintenance Orders and Daily Work Orders in a timely manner.
• Monitor key systems, including the boiler house, chiller plant, water entry room, and more.
• Inspect property areas for safety hazards and take immediate corrective actions.
• Assist guests with facility inquiries in a helpful and informative manner.
• Track and meet hotel energy management goals, in line with Fairmont and ownership standards.
• Resolve guest and colleague requests promptly, ensuring proactive follow-up to prevent future issues.
• Uphold the highest standards of internal and external customer service.
• Support the hotel’s Health & Safety program.
• Actively engage in the company’s sustainability and environmental initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and team to successfully complete projects and renovations.
• Follow all hotel and company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role we ask that you have:
• Level 4 Power Engineer Certificate (required).
• Relevant building maintenance experience (essential).
• Pool operator’s certificate or experience in pool maintenance and chemistry (strong asset).
• Knowledge of building codes, fire, and health department regulations.
• Familiarity with energy management, building automation systems, and digital fire control systems.
• Additional trade qualifications, including carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc. (asset).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and industry-related software.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• A high level of responsibility, reliability, and a positive attitude in challenging situations.
• A self-starter with a proactive approach and the ability to take initiative.
• Ability to lead by example, maintaining a consistently high standard of performance.
• Must be physically fit, well-groomed, and able to maintain a positive appearance.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, overnights, rotating shifts, extended hours, and emergency calls.
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
• Constant standing and walking throughout shifts.
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
• Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, and bending.
• Occasional use of ladders, stairs, and ramps.
To be successful in this role we ask that you have:
