Job Description
Whistler Sport Legacies is a not-for-profit organization responsible for the operation of the 2010 Olympic legacy facilities Whistler Sliding Centre, Whistler Olympic Park and the Whistler Athletes’ Centre. True to its dedication to grow sport assisting the vision to achieve a vibrant healthy sport community, the organization fosters public participation in sports, and maintains world-class training and competition facilities for athletes.
Manager Marketing, Sales and Communications is key in driving Whistler Sport Legacies’ brand visibility, sales growth and guest engagement. Responsibilities include creation and implementation of WSL’s marketing, promotional, and social media campaigns. Focus is generating and converting sales opportunities, strengthening guest relations and managing media outreach and communications.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Business Development, duties include supporting the promotion, marketing, and sales of WSL products and facilities. Key duties include executing marketing plans, managing advertising campaigns, overseeing website content, and monitoring media outlets to build awareness and recognition of the Olympic legacy sports and venues. Regular Full Time role requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities & Qualifications
• Assist Managing Director:
o with implementation of sales strategies to achieve revenue targets
o to build and maintain relationships with key clients and partners
o with development of seasonal Marketing Plans and marketing tactics
o to improve Guest Service sales skills, better understand guest needs and, identify sales patterns
• Carry out Whistler Sport Legacies’ customer service philosophy AIM: All Interactions Matter
• Assist team with other duties as assigned or required
Marketing
• Manage graphic standards and design process for integrated marketing, communications and collateral materials including the creative direction of collateral, advertising, website representation, in liaison with venues’ marketing representatives and colleagues
• Coordinate and execute marketing campaigns and initiatives across various channels including digital, radio and print, social media, email, content creation, racking and traditional advertising
• Develop mini/targeted Marketing Plans (collateral, advertising, trade shows, etc.) for specific groups such as weddings, RV rental companies, tour/sightseeing bus companies
• Liaise and synchronize with external agencies and vendors to ensure timely delivery of marketing materials and services
• Maintain effective internal communications ensuring all relevant WSL functions are kept informed of sales and marketing objectives
• Assist organizing and coordinating marketing events and promotional activities
• Represent WSL in the community, promote visitor programs, sport events, and seasonal operations
Sales
• Assist with sales enquiries, respond personally or direct to appropriate sales lead
• Administer regular event calendar updates and sales reporting to ensure effective communication of all current and ongoing sales activities to internal teams
• Book group reservations in Siriusware point of sale system
• Timely execution of correspondence: contract revisions, PO’s, and assist with guest itinerary’s, proposals, etc.
• Work with Guest Service teams to lead social media initiatives including developing content calendar, collecting content, managing posts, tracking results
• Conduct site inspections and familiarization tours for sport, media and commercial clients
• Explore/pursue promotions with in-Resort partners and regional retailers to extend marketing reach; negotiate contests, retail give-away, product placement, etc.
• Ensure tourism partners are updated: website updates, distribute brochures/flat sheets, PK sessions
Communications
• Lead ongoing website updates and maintenance by working with venues to update content
• Organize and implement communication strategies relating to:
o creation and editing of marketing collateral including brochures, advertisements, website content, flat sheets and social media posts
o photo and video shoots, in liaison with venue marketing representatives and colleagues
• Coordinate media relations, press inquiries and visiting media
• Work with the IT team or contractor to resolve website technical issues and develop new functionality, and search engine optimization
• Coordinate internal and external communication efforts, including press releases
• Ensure consistent brand messaging across all communication channels
• Maintain and update creative assets (content, photo and video) and contribute by creating photo/video for use on social media and in collateral
• Deliver on-site media hosting for national and international sport events at WOP and WSC as required
• Monitor and maintain WSL’s media presence in print, web, social, radio and TV outlets

• Work collaboratively with other WSL Managers
• Communicate important and time-sensitive operational and organizational messages to colleagues and attend meetings as required

Position Requirements
Education/Experience
• Minimum two years’ related marketing / communication and/or sport, tourism experience required
• Web and social media account experience including updates and maintenance
• Knowledge of branding, marketing (traditional and digital) strategies, techniques, and concepts
• Experience working with print, radio and TV media (journalists, reporters, producers) an asset
• Graphic design skills an asset
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; and ability to learn website CMS (Drupal)
• Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license required

Physical Requirements
• Reliable winter transportation (WOP is not serviced by transit)

Salary/Wage
$70,000 - $75,000 / year dependent on experience
