About the Opportunity:
Looking for a unique summer job where history meets creativity?
Do you enjoy engaging with people and participating in meaningful community events? The Museum of the
Cariboo Chilcotin is hiring enthusiastic and dynamic Summer Students to join our team for the 2025 summer
season! This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in museum operations, collections
management, and exhibition development while contributing to the success of a key cultural institution in the
Cariboo region.
This position requires an interest in local heritage and Western culture. The successful applicant will be
responsible for developing, marketing and facilitating activities such as scavenger hunts, group tours and day-
to-day operations of the museum, including processing Gift Shop sales and assisting volunteers with
collections, care and documentation, and other related duties.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Customer Service & Operations:
 Greet and assist museum visitors from around the world
 Provide tours and information about exhibits
 Open and close the museum daily
 Process museum memberships
 Assist with events and daily administrative tasks

Research & Collections Management:
 Help fulfill research requests from the public and local organizations
 Assist in artifact care, acquisition, documentation, and storage
 Photograph and catalogue new and existing items using museum software
Exhibition & Content Updates:
 Help organize and update exhibitions
 Transition exhibit content from print to digital kiosk format
 Fact-check and update exhibit descriptions with current historical informationBe a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians
holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible)
 Are legally entitled to work in Canada
 Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
 Have been a full-time high school, college, CEGEP, or university student (as defined by their
educational institution) in the semester preceding the YCW work assignment
 Intend to return to full-time studies in the semester following the YCW work assignment
 Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment and work some weekends

Available full-time (35 hours/week) for 16 weeks, including weekends
 Interest or enrollment in history, museum studies, tourism, or related fields
 Strong communication and customer service skills
 Comfortable with computer programs and research tasks
 Experience in museums or tourism is an asset, but not required
