Job Description
We are looking for the perfect person to fill an extremely important, unique position with our family-owned and operated whitewater rafting resort.
We are looking for a fun, outgoing Nanny to caretake 1-2 children (ages 7 & 8) while we operate Kumsheen Rafting Resort. We are also looking for this person to work with our Guest Experience Team when not Nanny-ing to ensure full-time hours. The breakdown of the role is included below.
The Guest Experience Team Member/Nanny will be joining a team of adventurous and friendly staff working at Kumsheen. This is a great opportunity to work & live in one of the most beautiful areas in BC, at an incredible family-run adventure resort.
About the Nanny position:
The Nanny position duties and schedule will differ slightly in April-June & September vs July & August, as the kids will be in school in the former set of months.
During school months (May, June, September), the Nanny will largely be looking after our 7 year old after school (from 3pm) picking up from school then looking after until 5-6pm. While he is at school, the employee will work in the Guest Experience Role for duties described below to ensure full-time hours. This will be a 5-on/2-off schedule. On non-school days (weekends), the full day will be spent with our 7 year old and occasionally his 8 year old cousin.
During July & August, the schedule will primarily be a one-week (5x 9hr days) on, one-week off rotation. This time will be spent with both children. The “off-week” will be spent working with the Guest Experience Team. This would be 4x8hr days, so every second week, you would have a three day weekend.
We currently live approximately ~20 minutes from the Kumsheen Resort so the Nanny will be able to either use our home or the Kumsheen Resort as a base, and we will always be nearby.
The Nanny will be able to utilize the Resort whenever desired as a base for caretaking the children (playground, swimming pool & hot tub, etc.). We will be looking after dinner daily, so you will be responsible for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The Nanny is to provide a safe and stimulating environment for growth and development, such as through educational games or outdoor activities.
We can provide on-site accommodation in our Staff Housing on the Resort, if needed. The staff accommodation is filled with approx. 15 employees in the summer months, and there’s never a dull moment.
About the Guest Experience Team Member position:
Kumsheen Office Staff are the main point of contact for our guests, so a genuine desire to provide outstanding customer service and a pleasant atmosphere is essential. These team members work at the heart of all resort operations, ensuring clear communication to every department. They are the “information centre” for staff and guests alike.
We are hoping for this position to begin as soon as possible, but are open to discuss start dates in June for the right candidate
