Job Description
Seasonal Museum Associates in several areas:
Our Seasonal Museum Associates are the first and last point of contact for guests to the Britannia Mine Museum. These roles support an optimal experience for our guests through our very busy summer season and are integral to maintaining the highest quality of customer service at the Museum.
You are a guest experience superstar, a quick learner and dependable!
You are enthusiastic about tourism in the Sea to Sky Corridor and are friendly, welcoming, and able to use all the required systems and software.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities (depending on the area you are interested in/ selected for):
1) Guest Experience (admissions):
Processing admissions and payments for guests to the museum, including tour groups, as well as various promotions, travel trade, and group bookings.
Supporting guests with wayfinding through the Museum so that they have an excellent experience.
Taking calls from and answering messages from people wanting to book tours.
2) Retail (The Company Store):
Assist guests with their full museum retail experience; seeking out merchandise or services sought, make recommendations for purchases & processing purchases.
Showcase the variety of merchandise available for sale.
Restocking, merchandising and cleaning the retail area.
3) Cafe:
Serving guests in the Chatterbox Cafe; taking orders, processing payments.
Supporting Museum special event food services.
Food and beverage preparation as per the Museum’s standards ( following all applicable safe food handling procedures and regulations).
Cleaning and bussing duties.
General for all areas:
Performing opening and closing duties
Responding to visitor inquiries.
Preparing for the following days activities including daily cleaning or organizing.
Acting as an ambassador for the Museum to our on site guests, providing a world class welcome!
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
Friendly, outgoing, and approachable.
Basic math and cash handling skills, with the ability to processes payment through cash as well as using a POS system; able to reconcile till, and do opening and closing cash handling duties.
Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including families, children, and international guests.
Able to learn and carry out the Museum’s processes and practices in the various service areas under Guest Services; Retail store, Admissions area, and Café.
Able to multi-task and respond to inquiries effectively in a fast-paced and open (and at times, loud) environment.
A dependable team player who can work effectively to problem solve and brainstorm with various parties, including colleagues and leadership within guest services as well as other departments.
Qualifications:
Customer service, retail, admissions, café and/or and cash handling experience are an asset, however we are willing to train the right person. If you love working with people, and have basic cash handling and computer skills, please apply!
Willing to complete a Criminal Record Check, as per the Museum’s policies.
Willing to take FoodSafe Level 1 if required.
