Job Description

The Second Cook delivers quality and speed to all aspects of food preparation and delivery to ensure great guest experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Embraces continuous learning to grow in the craft and develop alongside our talented culinary team
Support and collaborate with front of house team to achieve service recoveries and service enhancements in a professional and efficient manor
Attend and collaborate at all department & hotel meetings
Work closely within a team environment to ensure the smooth running of the food and beverage operation by developing and cultivating a team environment
Prepares orders according to established standards and customer requests
Ensures cleanliness, proper handling and maintenance of kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas
Responsible for proper storage of food and preparation
Assist in Kitchen Steward duties (i.e. washing dishes) as required
Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs

Responsibilities & Qualifications


Minimum 2 years’ line cook experience
Possess a positive attitude and works well with other team members
Strong commitment to detail
Proven organizational and problem-solving skills
Be able to work unsupervised
Self motivated
Must be willing to work in Kamloops, BC
Must be eligible to work in Canada


Basic food preparation
Demonstrates the ability to follow recipes and an understanding of recipe conversion
Awareness of modern and classical cooking, including specialized culinary techniques and measurements, and possess the ability to propose menu items
Knowledge of basic butchering, food allergies, seasonal ingredients and menus
Food safe certificate
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)

Physical requirements

Ability to push, pull, reach, bend, stoop and lift to 50 pounds
Constant standing and walking for a minimum of 4 hours at one time
