POSITION: SECOND COOK

REPORTS TO: Executive Chef

As a second cook, you will be a key member of the culinary team. Your talent will ensure our Apron guests experience is a place to gather, dine and connect. We trust you can change with the flow of a restaurant, consistently provide our customers with remarkable meals without delay that meets the impeccable Wall Centre standards.

What your day will look like:
• Prepare all aspects of the food production for Apron & Room Service, according to hotel standards and sanitation practices.
• Prepare food items for customers using a quality pre-determined method in a timely and consistent manner with the minimum possible wastage.
• Set up a station to service all functions.
• Practice sanitation and safety daily to ensure total customer satisfaction.
• Daily cleaning and inventory of walk-in, storage and refrigerators for stock rotation and ensure all equipment in the work area is properly cleaned.
• Report any equipment in need of repair to the Executive Chef.
• Perform other duties as necessary and assigned.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Red Seal Certification is considered an asset.
• Must have Food Safe Certification.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any provincial and federal licenses, certificates and permits.
• Second Cooks, ideally, but not ultimately, are required to have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in comparable 4 diamond hotels or restaurants.
• Completion of a recognized culinary program.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English, a second language is an asset.
• Must be able to work early mornings/opening shifts.
• A neat, clean, well-groomed appearance as per Wall Centre & Marriott.
• Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs. and lift/carry up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
• Must be able to push carts of up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand on feet for 8 hours per day.
• Must be able to use a knife for up to an hour at a time, sometimes longer if necessary.
• Must be able to lift boxes between 10-20 lbs. without assistance from others.

Salary/Wage

$25.50-$28.45 per hour
