Vancouver Island Regional Labour Market Study

The Vancouver Island region is affected by seasonality and retention challenges, and compared to other parts of the province, they will have a higher percentage of jobs opening up due to retirements.  By 2020, it is anticipated that the region will have 14,484 job openings, with a labour shortage of 2,121. The food & beverage and accommodation sectors will be the hardest hit.
