Job Description
As a key member of the Operations Team, the Base Operations Manager oversees the efficient and guest-focused operation of Cypress Mountain’s Downhill Base Area. This includes parking lots, roadway traffic flow, surrounding facility areas, and the Base Operations team. This hands-on leader sets the tone for excellence, ensuring every interaction with guests and team members reflects the highest standards of safety, service, and professionalism.
Working collaboratively with all departments, the Base Operations Manager promotes strong communication, teamwork, and a positive culture across the mountain. They take pride in creating a well-organized, welcoming environment that delivers exceptional guest experiences while supporting a motivated and high-performing team.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to the following):
• Develop and implement operational and risk management standards for all Downhill Base Area and Parking operations.
• Lead safe, efficient, and guest-friendly parking and traffic control, coordinating vehicles, buses, pedestrians, and on-site team activities.
• Recruit, train, schedule and inspire the Base Operations Team to deliver exceptional guest service and uphold Cypress Mountain’s standards.
• Create and deliver training programs outlined in the Base Operations Manual, ensuring consistent performance and development.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching to build a strong, motivated team.
• Perform daily risk assessments of base areas and respond quickly to any operational concerns.
• Maintain clean, organized, and a well-presented base area that enhances the guest experience.
• Oversee shutdown, cleanup, and equipment preparation to support snow clearing and other essential operations.

Additional Duties:
• Park Facilities Operator Contract (PFO) – oversees the implementation of daily duties of the Park
facilities contract and maintain all necessary grounds and equipment to the specified requirements.
• Waste/Recycling Program – coordination and support of waste/recycling program for all facilities.
• Snow Removal – coordinates/implements as necessary in base area and around buildings in conjunction with the Snow Removal Team.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
• Strong time management and organizational skills, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, team building, and communication skills (oral and written).
• Well-organized, punctual, hardworking, self-motivated, and outgoing.
• Respectful and collaborative with others.
• Actively participates in meetings and provides clear updates.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Experience operating heavy equipment (front-end loaders, bobcats, excavators) is an asset.
• Strong analytical and computer skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
• Legally able to work in Canada.
• Valid Driver’s License Must meet all regulatory requirements to operate trucks and other equipment used.
• Insured and reliable vehicle with winter tires for travel to and from the mountain.
• TCP certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Any applicable safety training is an asset (i.e. WHMIS, Fall protection).
Salary/Wage
70,000-80,000 DOE
