go2HR is looking for a knowledgeable and people-focused Psychological Health & Safety (PHS) Specialist to join our collaborative and fun-loving team. This hybrid role (based in Vancouver) blends PHS know-how with a strong foundation in occupational health & safety (OHS) management. As our Psychological Health & Safety Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of it all. You’ll work directly with employers across BC to build relationships, providing expert guidance and hands-on support to strengthen their psychological health & safety practices, as a key part of their overall approach to managing workplace health & safety.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Delivering customized health & safety advisory services to industry employers, addressing current and emerging workplace challenges (think PHS hazards and controls) with practical, tailored solutions.
• Advising on PHS matters, from regulatory compliance to real-world best practices using a collaborative and adaptable approach.
• Acting as a go2HR ambassador, promoting our health & safety programs and encouraging participation across the industry.
• Building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, including employers, industry associations, destination marketing/management organizations and WorkSafeBC.
• Collaborating across teams to plan and deliver engaging initiatives like webinars, presentations, surveys and resource development.
• Spotting opportunities to cross-promote go2HR’s full suite of services including training and HR support and facilitating warm referrals.
• Staying sharp and current with the latest PHS and OHS trends, legislation and best practices, while offering industry-informed insight into emerging health & safety issues.
• Helping expand and enhance our offerings, recommending new training, tools, and services based on what the industry really needs.
• Supporting employers directly, helping them build, refine, and elevate their internal health & safety programs and incorporate PHS principles.
• Creating and refreshing educational resources on the website, ensuring content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with regulation and reflects the industry.
• Contributing your voice and expertise to industry communications- think articles, newsletters, eblasts and social media.
• Participating in health & safety committee meetings, sharing knowledge, gaining insight and collaborating with peers.
• Tracking impact and outcomes, monitoring trends, evaluating program results and working with the team on monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
• Helping shape the way forward by contributing to future work planning and strategic initiatives that strengthen go2HR’s health & safety impact across the province.

go2HR partners with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), BC Division, to promote mental health and wellness within the tourism and hospitality industry.

What You Bring:
• A degree in psychology, mental health studies, public health, health sciences, or a related field (or a combination of education, training, and experience)
• Occupational health & safety certificate/diploma or equivalent preferred
• 3+ years’ experience in an occupational health & safety role, where you’ve had the opportunity to gain a strong understanding of psychological health & safety
• Professional certification or training in psychological health & safety, mental health, health promotion, change management or coaching, considered an asset (e.g. CMHA Psychological Health and Safety Professional Certificate, Opening Minds Integrating Psychological Health & Safety in the Workplace, Certified Change Management Professional)
• Hands-on experience with health & safety program development, return-to-work and wellness programs, auditing, applying the National Standard for Psychological Health and Safety, WorkSafeBC Psychological Health & Safety Framework for Success (or similar = advantageous)
• Knowledge of BC Workers Compensation Act & OHS Regulation and able to locate key information when needed
• Strong understanding of workplace factors that influence psychological health & safety; ability to sort and analyze data and spot trends
• Great communication skills, oral and written, with a knack for building relationships, providing practical, realistic solutions and advice
• Experience in creating and delivering engaging presentations and workshops/training
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and highly organized, owning the work and the outcomes
• Skills in project management, rolling out new initiatives and getting things done
• Tech-savvy (MS Office, Teams, Zoom)
• Valid BC driver’s license and willingness to travel
• And of course, prior experience working in tourism & hospitality = a bonus!

Salary/Wage

$80,000–$90,000

Salary & Perks: $80,000–$90,000/year based on your experience, education and credentials.
